Week 2: Main components of a computer.

Class objective:

Identify and understand problems related to hardware, such as the proper connection of different input, output, and storage devices, in order to recognize solutions for these situations. In addition, students will be introduced to the basic protocol for providing tech support.

Class agenda:

  • Take the diagnostic exam (will be posted in your Classroom).

  • Introduction: Why won’t my computer turn on?

    • Student participation: sharing experiences when this situation happened to them and what they did to fix it..

  • Explanation of the components of a computer:

    • Main components of a “CPU” (Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Storage, Power supply, cooling  and GPU). 

    • Input devices (keyboard, mouse, camera, scanner, microphone, light pen, etc.)

    • Output devices (monitor, printer, headphones, speakers, etc.)

    • Storage devices (hard drive, SSD, USB drives, memory cards, etc.)

    • Connectors (USB, HDMI, network cable, minijack, VGA, etc.)

  • Answer the following questions on your notebook (notes):

    • What is the main characteristic of input devices? Also, write the name of 3 input devices.

    • What should you check if you don’t have internet?

    • What should you check if your monitor doesn’t turn on?

    • How will today’s lesson be useful to you?

  • Watch the video about “Troubleshooting”.

  • Take notes in your notebook

Week 1: Welcome, rules and criteria.

Class objective:

Students will know, understand, and reflect on the classroom rules, evaluation criteria, and expected behavior. Full awareness of these topics will foster a healthy and positive learning environment.


Class agenda:

  • Welcome the group and introduce the teacher.
  • Brief student introductions and mentions one word that expresses what they expect from the 2025–2026 school year.
  • Presentation and reading of the computer lab’s internal rules.
    • Explanation and discussion of the evaluation method – Evaluation Criteria.
    • Review of the Attitude Rubric.
  • Clarification of questions and comments regarding class guidelines, evaluation criteria, and the Attitude Rubric.
